Kanpiki! Chapter One

Hello and welcome! I'm so excited to share chapter one of Kanpiki with you today! Kanpiki is a comic about my experience studying abroad in Japan when I was in high school. If you have any questions about that, please check out my FAQ here! At the end of the post, I have assorted resources for students who are interested in studying abroad in Japan -- please check those out if you're interested! And without any further ado, this is Kanpiki! chapter one.

Okay, there we go! Chapter one. Please check back for chapter two next week -- I'll post on Twitter or Instagram when I post it, so feel free to follow me there for updates!

If you're interested in studying abroad, that's great! I studied abroad with CCI Greenheart. They were great, and I would highly recommend them! I've also heard really good things about the Rotary study abroad program in Japan. If you qualify, I believe it's fully funded. I recommend this article for some reasons why it's great to study abroad in high school, but you are also free to send me a message on Twitter or Instagram (or leave a comment here) if you have further questions! I really, really recommend high school study abroad. It's a great way to truly experience a new culture, because you get to really be a member of the family. In addition, you will really further your language skills because you're typically the only exchange student in your school (unlike in college where you will have many friends from your school or country). I also think it's nice because as a high schooler in Japan, you get to participate in tons of after school clubs and activities for free, which is a great way to meet friends and practice Japanese.

Also, I wanted to share a few fun pictures:

Hunter, Caleb, and me at Narita Airport

Monica, Allison, and me in our hotel room getting ready for our first day of orientation!

Monica, Allison, and me wearing yukata in our hotel room

This is me a few years later rocking the JFIE t shirt. That's Noelle Stevenson (!!). The shirts is still going strong. JFIE forever!

Okay, that's all for now! This chapter is just a lot of setup, but check back next week for some action packed study abroad adventures (lol).
